Company Profile

Background Information

Care Trak of California is the West Coast Authorized Distributor for CARE TRAK Products, currently serving all of California, Arizona, Nevada and Utah. Located in Southern California, Care Trak of California commenced operations in December 1998. CARE TRAK INTERNATIONAL, Inc. is affiliated with Wildlife Materials, Inc.

Wildlife Materials, Inc. has been tracking and monitoring endangered species around the world for over 35 years. Our customers include the Smithsonian, National Audubon Society, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, police, sheriffs, search and rescue teams, universities, zoos, private industry, and many more. For instance, Wildlife Materials' equipment has monitored the red-crowned crane in China, African leopards and elephants, crocodiles in India, the California Condor studies funded by the National Audubon Society, the rare black-footed ferret in Wyoming, Auburn University's project on the endangered Indigo snake and tree shrews in Borneo.

You may have seen our equipment featured in use on television programs such as CBS's "Without A Trace", Extreme Make Over Home Edition, NBC Nightly News, CBS This Morning, CNN, Wild Kingdom, NOVA, National Geographic, Wild America, Inside Edition, 60 Minutes, and many more. The legendary Paul Harvey did a report on the CARE TRAK Mobile Locater; and we were featured in an article by Robert Stock of the New York Times in the August 1997 issue of Entrepreneur Magazine.

Wildlife Materials was established in 1970 by Robert E. Hawkins, a biologist then working as a project director at Southern Illinois University Cooperative Wildlife Research Laboratory. Our designs have been inspired by the needs of field biologists: a computerized temperature calibration system that signals illness, ovulation and stress in large animals and a subminiature transmitter to fit tiny birds that previously could not wear a transmitter.

With proven technology behind us, adaptation of this expertise to the long term care of people became a logical step. CARE TRAK monitors people who wander due to Alzheimer's Disease and other dementia conditions. The CARE TRAK Mobile Locater can find a lost person up to a mile on the ground. We also serve parents who have children with Downs Syndrome, Autism, Prader-Willi Syndrome, mental impairments and traumatic brain injuries.

To address these specialized needs CARE TRAK was established in 1986. In 1988 the Federal Communications Commission granted CARE TRAK a license to operate and produce transmitters within a designated frequency range, for medical use with humans. Our clients also include dozens of skilled nursing facilities, residential care facilities, local police, county sheriffs, private individuals and search and rescue teams nationwide.

All CARE TRAK equipment is hand built by trained technicians to insure the highest professional standards, quality and reliability. All transmitters and receivers are fully range tested. Our home and skilled care facility equipment is built to the same identical tough standards as our professional research equipment. There is no such thing as a consumer version of our equipment. This attention to detail and over 35 years of building equipment for wilderness tracking make CARE TRAK the best possible monitoring and locating equipment available today.

With a proven track record, Care Trak stands behind it's products, by being the only company that provides a Five (5) Year Parts and Labor Warranty, at no additional charge. We welcome and appreciate your questions and comments.
